When Michael reached out to us with the hope of planning the perfect surprise proposal near Melbourne, we knew Scotch Hill’s sweeping views and quiet corners would offer the magic he was looking for. With stunning Mt Baw Baw rising in the distance and the soft winter light settling across our truffle farm, it was the ideal backdrop for a moment they would remember forever.

To keep the proposal completely secret, we arranged for our photographic partner Rachael Flynn Photography to visit under the guise of doing a landscape shoot of the farm. Michael and Alana were asked if they could help by being “sample subjects,” and Alana happily agreed—completely unaware of what was about to unfold.
Rachael guided them to one of our favourite vantage points, where the rolling hills open into a breathtaking panorama. She positioned them back-to-back for a “creative shot” and invited them to slowly turn toward one another. As Alana turned, she found Michael on one knee.
The moment was pure emotion—shaking hands, teary eyes, laughter, and a beautiful, joy-filled yes. With the dramatic ridge line and Mt Baw Baw views behind them, Rachael captured every second of their heartfelt reaction.
Once Alana caught her breath, we brought out celebratory bubbles before they continued wandering the farm with Rachael, capturing more portraits among the truffle trees, hilltop ridges, and quiet spots that make Scotch Hill one of Victoria’s most romantic proposal locations.
